Celebrity crushes/Fangirling

Sigh yes, I am guilty of this. Especially when it comes to The Wanted. Don’t even get me started on them! And it really is interesting how this works. Its normal for girls to be obsessed about certain celebrities and all but sometimes, if you’re anything like me, it makes life complicated for you. Seeing anything about your celebrity crush (particularly something about them with their significant other) reminds you of the small fact that you will never actually have them as your own. For me, Tumblr makes my love for the guys from The Wanted 1000 times worse. I just feel the need to reblog and heart anything about them! And my sister is even worse than me! We’re both currently in need of tumblr rehab because of our obsession. Although I’m a huge fan, fortunately I don’t think I’m capable of actually stalking any of my celebrity crushes. I mean, who wants to be THAT GIRL. If I ever do get the chance to meet any of the celebrities that I love (too many to mention them all), I probably won’t be very memorable but that’s okay with me. As long as I meet them, I’ll be good. But if I don’t meet any of them before I turn 30, then maybe I will turn into THAT GIRL. So here’s to hoping I meet them within the next 10 years! And that is my wrinkle of the day! Now I’m off to dream about guys I will never have. Good night!

Books are the future…

Seriously, they are the future. Like apocalyptica the future (if that makes any sense) is what I mean. It seems like lately most of the books that I’ve been reading have to do with a country (i.e. the United States) in the future, as another kind of world or government, different from the U.S.A. that we know today. An example of books like this is “Delirium” by Lauren Oliver. I don’t know how to explain it without giving away too much, but its agreat book and the second book of the series just came out a few months ago! Another example is the amazing “The Hunger Games” trilogy by Suzanne Collins (if you haven’t read it yet, what are you waiting for?! No seriously, go read it now). This book speaks for itself. The fashion, the politics and the technology may seem otherworldy and ridiculous to us now, but in a few years, it could become a reality-our reality. As a final example of these books, there is “Matched” by Ally Condie. I’m not done reading this book yet, but what I have read of it so far was enough to get me thinking about the future. All the things that happen in these books may seem crazy and unlikely but it can happen when we least expect, and just the thought of it is kinda scary. Just think of all the things we have today that people did not even dream about 30, 20, even 10 years ago (to get a better idea about this, read “The Future of Us” by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler!) If you haven’t read one or any of these books, I hope this inspires you enough to add them to your summer reading list. And I would love any suggestions to add to my own list! So that is my wrinkle of the day! Get reading.

Gossip girls

I should probably take this time to say that I’ve come to the conclusion that this blog will mostly be of things that I already knew but was reminded of throughout the day. Like today’s topic: gossip and women- or as I like to call them: Gossip Girls. It is well known that women love talking. The amount of jokes that exist about this minor detail of womanhood is impressive-and if I could say so myself, these jokes are actually pretty funny. Google “Jokes about women talking too much”. You won’t even have to finish writing the whole sentence and it will come up on its own! I was reminded of this today as I was walking in the city. I overheard so many conversations among groups of women that were all alike-basically “He said, She said…blah blah blah”. And of course, the male conversations that I heard were not surprising. They were generally about food and/or the game from last night (don’t ask me which one though, I have no idea). I just found it so funny how different men and women’s conversations are. It really does seem like we’re two different species sometimes. Also, I know this post sucks more than usual today, but I have 2 best friends who are talking about tumblr like psychopaths next to me and 2 finals tomorrow that I haven’t even started studying for. So please forgive me for tonight. And that is my wrinkle of the day! Buon notte!!

Superheroes!

Superheroes-that is what I will be talking about today. After watching Marvel’s The Avengers today, I’ve come to the conclusion that we, the people, will never get enough of superheroes. Whether you’re for a DC or Marvel fan, it all leads to the same thing: we love our superheroes. The amount of movies coming out this summer alone is enough proof of this. Along with The Avengers, The Amazing Spiderman (prequel to the Spiderman movies, duh) and The Dark Knight Rises (Batman movie #3, double duh) will also be out this year. Its going to be a pretty exciting summer for superheroes, and I can’t wait to be sitting in an overcrowded NYC theater with my fellow fanatics, geeking out about the awesomeness that is Christian Bale as Batman! Also, can I just point out how AMAZING the Hulk is in the Avengers!? He was perfect! And so was Captain America…and Thor…and Black Widow…and, okay everyone! It was great, that is all. And that is my wrinkle of the day! Not much of a wrinkle, but a reiteration of a fact that is well known today: Superheroes rule the world!!

Job Hatred

Today is monday (as if you didn’t already know that), also known as the day that everyone hates everything: getting up early, going to work/school, any responsibility; basically people hate having a life on mondays. So the wrinkle I got today is not very surprising. Today I learned that it really is possible to hate your job. Sure, I’ve heard people say “OMG, I hate my job…blah, blah, blah”, but my experience with a librarian today really hit home. Some people really do hate their jobs, and this reflects in their performance. As I was trying to help Jacob (the 5 year old boy I babysit, who will be called one of “my kids” during this project) use a computer at the library when suddenly I heard one of the librarians yelling at a group of kids for doing I have no idea what. Her rant at the kids was followed by a very firm “I hate my job!”. She then stormed off to the staff lounge. I was shocked! I have never actually seen someone do that at their job. This realization hit me like lightening. It is truly possible to hate your job. And the reality of the situation is not pretty. Honestly, there are days when of course I don’t like my job and all I want to do is go home and sleep, but at the end of the day, I am very grateful for my job, and after today I will have a more appreciative attitude towards my kids and the opportunities that I have. And that is my wrinkle of the day! Good night!
